Instagram Stories are a fun and interactive way to share moments with your followers. However, there might be occasions where you want to limit who sees your stories. Whether it’s avoiding a specific person or a group of people, Instagram offers options to control your audience and Hide Your Instagram Story.
Custom Close Friends List
Instagram allows you to create a “Close Friends” list, giving you control over who can view specific stories. To utilize this feature, go to your profile and tap on the three horizontal lines in the top-right corner.
Select “Close Friends” from the menu and add the people you want to include in this list.
When posting a story, choose the “Close Friends” option from the audience selector. Only those on your Close Friends list will be able to view it.
Hide From Specific Followers
If you want to hide your story from specific followers who are not on your Close Friends list, you can manually select who sees your story.
When posting a story, tap on the audience selector (it’s usually the “Your Story” option). From here, you can select “Hide Story From” and choose the people you want to exclude from viewing your story.
Mute or Block
If you prefer a more straightforward approach to prevent someone from viewing your stories, consider muting or blocking them.
Muting someone will hide their stories and posts from your feed without notifying them. Blocking someone, on the other hand, restricts their access to your profile entirely, including your stories and Hide Your Instagram Story.
Use a Private Account
Switching to a private account allows you to control who follows you and sees your content, including stories.
Only approved followers will be able to view your stories, making it an effective way to limit your audience.
Archive Your Stories
If you’ve already posted a story and want to hide it from certain individuals, you can archive it.
Go to your profile, tap on the three horizontal lines, select “Archive,” and choose the story you want to hide. From there, you can either hide it from specific people or remove it entirely.
It’s essential to note that while these methods can help control who sees your Instagram stories, they aren’t foolproof. People might still view your content through mutual friends or other means. Additionally, Instagram’s features and settings may evolve over time, so staying updated with the app’s changes is advisable.
